Diabetica Tea™ is a balanced formula with standardized extracts of wild crafted herbs from the mountains of China. These herbs have been carefully selected and processed, according to HerbaSway’s rigorous criteria, to provide you with the most potent therapeutic benefits. This formula is a synergistic combination of herbs such as: Astragalus, Kudzu, Lycium and Ophiopagon, which will help balance your healthy blood sugar. The addition of Stevia and Lo Han provides balancing and moistening effects on internal organs. This great tasting formula is intended to be a good drink for people with diabetes, who may suffer from excessive thirst.
Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus)
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Astragalus has been one of the most important herbs used to ”tonify spleen, blood and Qi, raise the yang Qi of the spleen and stomach and stabilize the exterior”. It helps support the immune system. In the western medicine, Astragalus has been proposed as a treatment for viral hepatitis and myasthenia gravis and aids in immune enhancement. Research had shown that Astragalus extract increases the production of interferon in animals, an immune factor that inhibits viral growth. The main part of Astragalus used for medicinal purposes is the root, which contains: triterpenes (astragalosides) and polysaccharides. Astragalus may also be useful in helping to maintain healthy blood sugar and blood pressure levels.
Ophiopagon (Ophiopagon Japonicus)
This herb has been used by Chinese herbalists for Yin Deficiency, where it is used for its antiinflammatory, anti-pyretic and antitussive properties. Other functions of Ophiopagon include:
• Nourishes Yin and clears heat
• Moistens and warms the lungs
• Nourishes the heart
• Moistens Intestines and supports regularity
• It is diuretic, cardiotonic, anti-bacterial and hemostatic
• It stimulates leukocyte production
• It is a tonic for reproductive system
Stigmasterol and beta-sitosterol, two important phytosterols in Ophiopagon, help maintain healthy blood sugar levels. It is also hypoglycemic and increases glycogen storage.
Chinese Lycium (Lycium Barbarum)
For thousands of years, people in Asia have used Lycium fruit, known also as Chinese Wolfberry, to help maintain good health. Lycium is a Chinese herb that helps to improve vision and to prevent headaches and dizziness caused by liver and kidney deficiencies. Also, Lycium has been used in TCM for in mild forms of diabetes. The Lycium berries contain betaine, vitamin A, B1, B2, C, calcium, phosphorus, iron, zeaxanthin, and linolein acid. Studies have shown that an extract of this herb inhibited the precipitation of fat in liver cells and promoted the regeneration of liver cells. It has also shown a hypoglycemic effect; helping to lower the level of blood sugars, and a hypotensive effect by decreasing blood pressure. In Traditional Chinese Medicine Lycium is good for the following body meridians: Liver, Kidney and Lung.
Kudzu (Pueraria Lobata)
This herb has been used traditionally to improve coronary circulation and lower myocardial oxygen consumption. Four important glycosides have been isolated as the active principles of this herb, of which puerarin is the most potent. The glycosides can cause muscular relaxation, especially in the left coronary vessel, and a decrease in heart rate.
Kudzu has been observed to improve cerebral circulation, mainly by lowering vascular resistance of the cerebral vessels. Extracts of the herb have been shown to exhibit antipyretic and anticonvulsant effects. This herb is used by traditional Chinese physicians to dispel "pathogenic factors" from the superficial muscles, to reduce "heat", to reinforce yang, to promote "eruption", to promote salivation, and to relieve thirst.
Diabetica™ Tea uses two types of Ginseng extract: Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus) and Korean Ginseng (Panax Ginseng), which belong to different botanical families. Eleuthero has many of the same effects as Panax Ginseng; it is generally regarded as being milder and more of an energizing stimulant. Using both ginseng herbs helps balance the yin and yang of Diabetica™ Tea.
Ginseng is considered an adaptogen, which increases the body’s resistance to detrimental environmental factors (stress, etc.). It is also has many other TCM health benefits:
• Aphrodisiac
• Tonic and stimulant
• Stimulates secretions; nourishes vital fluids
• Balances blood sugar levels
• Balances male/female hormones
• Enhances the immune system
• Supports the adrenal glands
• Promotes circulation
• Supports balanced blood pressure
Chinese Licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis) is one of the most important herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It enters all the 12 meridians and organs, tonifying, strengthening and nurturing. It acts synergistically with the other herbs and has been used traditionally to reduce fever, moisten the lungs, loosen phlegm and reduce pain. Chinese Licorice is anti-inflammatory, antitussive, antihistamine and detoxifying.
The other herbs in Diabetica™ include
• Lo Han (Momordica grosvenorii) fruit extract, which supports the respiratory system and digestion
